In-home organizing support for at-risk households in El Paso County.

No. Clients with Colorado Medicaid coverage that includes our services can now put themselves directly on our waitlist at impactfulorganizing.com, no agency referral needed. If your client doesn't have that Medicaid coverage, they can still be referred through our Community Access Program.

Our Community Access Program (funded by private donations and grants) only accepts applications for clients who aren't covered by Medicaid for these services.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Applicant lives in El Paso County.
2. Applicant is not enrolled in Medicaid coverage under which our services would be a covered benefit.
3. Applicant is referred by a recognized social services agency or community partner.

Applications are reviewed and scored using our Need-Based Scoring Framework; acceptance is subject to available funding and capacity.

The referring agency itself also needs a signed Memorandum of Understanding with Impactful Organizing before submitting referrals, see How to Become a Partner above.

We deliver the same core service, hands-on home organizing and daily living skills training, through two funding pathways. The Medicaid-funded pathway is billed to Health First Colorado for clients whose Medicaid coverage includes our services; those clients now self-refer through our waitlist at impactfulorganizing.com. The Community Access Program is funded entirely by private donations and grants for clients who aren't covered by Medicaid for these services, and it's the pathway agencies refer clients into.

This is not a requirement. What is most important is to get a sense of how clutter and disorganization in their space is impacting the applicant's life.

The client is required to be present and participate in organizing services. The client and their Professional Organizer will make a custom plan together to declutter and organize one space to make daily life easier.

Impactful Organizing provides a Follow-Up and Skills Review Session, a two-hour visit with one team member, to reinforce the organizing systems put in place and address any adjustments needed.

1. Submit a Community Access Program application for your client.
2. We review and score the application using our Need-Based Scoring Framework; applications are reviewed the first Wednesday of the month, and acceptance depends on available funding and capacity.
3. We notify the referring agency and applicant of the acceptance decision. Applicants who aren't accepted may be placed on our waitlist or referred to other community resources.
4. We start services with an in-home Discovery Session to build a custom plan with the client and make sure they're comfortable moving forward with services.

People can feel a lot of shame around an unmanageable household. Here are suggestions for approaching this topic:

1. Curiosity: "I've noticed that ____ seems stressful to you."

2. Empathy: "You are dealing with a lot. It makes sense that ____ feels unmanageable."

3. Offer: "Mind if I share an idea? I know a place that offers professional organizing at no cost. They help people tackle clutter and create systems to make daily life easier. Are you interested in learning more?"

Our website ImpactfulOrganizing.com outlines our services for potential clients. We also have flyers you can share with clients.

Our services are very personal. Impactful Organizing is very respectful of the fact that clients are inviting us into their home. We follow HIPAA privacy standards and Colorado's mandatory reporter laws. If a client wants us to coordinate with another agency involved in their care, we use an optional Authorization to Release Information form, signing it is entirely voluntary, doesn't affect their services, and they can revoke it at any time. We may share non-identifiable information about projects for fundraising or promotional purposes.

Impactful Organizing is not currently structured to assist with whole house projects like those featured on Hoarders. We do help with some hoarding-like situations. Each project has a targeted approach to address safety and well-being needs.
